Pluck, pluck – ouch! Tweezing can be quite painful, and using the wrong pair can sometimes make it worse. But don’t worry, we’re here to explain how to choose the best tweezers, so that plucking pain would be as minimal as possible.

Before You Shop for the Best Tweezers

We all are different, so the tweezers that we require will differ. Some of us have fine hair, some of us have thicker, stubborn hair, and so as a general guide it may be the case that we’ll need to test out a few tweezers before getting ones that wouldn’t want to part with.

It’s also a good idea to have tweezers only for your face, another pair for any other part of the body and a third pair in your first aid kit for any medical purposes.

If you have sensitive skin, when choosing tweezers go for a stainless steel pair as it is a non-allergenic material.

Different Types of Tweezers

Pointed Tip

Looking for ultimate precision? Tweezers with a pointed tip are the right ones for you. They also work perfectly for people who have fair and fine hairs that could be harder to pluck with any other type of tweezers. They can also be used to remove splinters.

Straight Tip

If you want to pluck more hairs at a time, a pair of tweezers with a straight tip is right for you. They are designed to pluck thicker hair, and can remove a group of hairs at once, which is handy and time-saving. Plus… if you ever are looking for extra precision when popping on a pair of false eyelashes, the best tweezers for this will be ones with a straight tip.

Slanted Tip

This is the most common tip in tweezers as it acts like a two in one. On one side you have the pointy tip, and on the other – the straight one. This is the perfect multitasking pair.

Cleaning and Storing Your Tweezers

It’s important to keep your tweezers clean and sterile. It’s really easy to do: simply clean with alcohol or sterilizer using a cotton ball or pad. If your tweezers have been in contact with blood, place them in boiling water for 5 minutes to make sure no bacteria is spread when you use them next.

It’s best to store tweezers in a small pouchette, as these are sharp objects (especially the pointy ones!). Plus, this will help to minimize the amount of bacteria that tweezers can be exposed to if not stored properly.
