Looking to save extra money for the honeymoon? Doing your own bridal makeup is definitely an option. It could be a bit nerve-wracking to take control of how you look on your big day. Don’t worry, we have rounded up some tips on how to nail your bridal beauty look.
#1 Practice, practice & practice
Try out your makeup look and practice two to three rounds a few months before your big day. You don’t need to buy all new makeup. In fact, you should stick with the products you are positive that will work for you. Remember to take notes to remind you what products you used and how you used them. Taking photos under different lightings helps to make sure that you will look your best in photographs.
#2 Waterproof mascara
Don’t think you’re going to cry? Don’t be silly. It’s best to play it safe with waterproof mascara. So, you don’t have to worry about your eyelashes smudging or flaking while you’re walking down the aisle. How to avoid mascara clumping? The mascara wand can sometimes get too much product. Just wipe off excess mascara against the edge of the container or on a tissue to prevent clumps. Then, comb through your lashes after each coat of mascara to eliminate clumps.
#3 Use a little more blush
Apply more blusher than you think you need on your big day as it tends to get washed out when photographed. In the case of photography, more is more. Use a large, fluffy brush to blend a blush that really pops into the apples of your cheeks. Then get your photographer to take photos, both indoors and outdoors, with and without flash, when your makeup is done in the morning to check if you need more colour.
#4 Layer lip colours
Layering lip colours on your lips will ensure a long-lasting finish. Go for a lip colour that’s close to your own but a bit more pigmented. Start by prepping your lips with a lip balm and lip primer and follow by applying a thin layer of lipstick in a long-lasting cream formula that will take you through the entire day. Swipe your lipstick on again to add more saturation and dimension to your lips, so the colour won’t just last longer but you’ll take better pictures too.
