You have probably heard about it, some people in Korea do sheet masks twice a day. Beauty seekers in Korea just indulge in the daily skincare habit; they believe that it is the most effective way to keep the skin soft, radiant, and acne-free. Wonder if you should use a sheet mask every day? We asked a couple of dermatologists about that and the answer is yes, but there are a couple of catches.

Dermatologists told us it’s fine to use a sheet mask every day if it’s not a glycolic acid-containing sheet mask. Sheet masks that labeled “anti-aging”, are usually formulated with exfoliating glycolic acid. Glycolic acid is a naturally occurring substance, when used in skincare products; it offers benefits from rejuvenating to moisturizing. However, the acid can be too strong for daily use and can cause irritation.

Those who have acne-prone skin, it’s not suggested to use sheet masks every day as the thick and gloopy substance in sheet mask can sometimes be occlusive and pores blocking and resulting in aggravate acne. Instead, dermatologists recommend using a sheet mask only once a week if you have acne-prone skin.

Benefits of using a sheet mask every day

Using a sheet mask every day can help boost your skin’s hydration levels, as leaving the mask on the face for a certain period helps push the ingredients into the skin. By using a sheet mask daily, you can enjoy the same result as using a super-powered moisturizer every day.

What’s more, if you have sensitive skin, using sheet masks can lessen the chance of skin irritation as they usually contain fewer preservatives.
