Carvedilol is a non-selective ?-blocker. It reduces peripheral vascular resistance by selective ?1 receptor blockade and suppresses renin-angiotensin system through non-selective ?-blockade. Carvedilol has weak membrane stabilising properties and has no intrinsic sympathomimetic activity.
