Used in the management of endocrine disorder. Acute episodes/exacerbations of rheumatic disorders. Maintenance treatment/exacerbations of collagen diseases &, immune complex diseases, dermatologic diseases. Treatment of unresponsive severe or incapacitating allergic states, severe acute/chronic inflammatory ophth conditions. Management over critical periods of GI &, resp diseases, hematologic disorder. Palliative management of neoplastic diseases. To induce diuresis or remission of proteinuria in edematous states, nervous system disorders. Adjunct to chemotherapy in TB meningitis with subarachnoid/impending block, trichinosis with neurologic or myocardial involvement. Organ transplantation. Prevention of nausea &, vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapy.

Product Usage

May be administered by intravenous (IV) injection or infusion; or by intramuscular (IM) injection.

Ingredients

Each vial approximately contains methylprednisolone sodium succinate equivalent to 1 gram methylprednisolone; 15 mg monobasic sodium phosphate monohydrate; 140 mg dibasic sodium phosphate; and sufficient quantity of 10% sodium hydroxide solution; and water for injection. Each mL of the diluent approximately contains 9 mg benzyl alcohol and sufficient quantity of water for injection.

Storage Information

Store unreconstituted product at controlled room temperature 15°C-30°C. Store reconstituted solution at temperatures below 25°C. Use solution within 48 hours after mixing.

Warnings

May increase susceptibility to infection; mask some signs of infection; result to secondary adrenocortical insufficiency; produce or aggravate Cushing's syndrome & psychic derangements & predispose to dyslipidemia; HTN & osteoporosis. Patients with hypothyroidism; diabetes; myasthenia gravis or seizure disorders; fungal & viral eye infections; nonspecific ulcerative colitis; renal insufficiency. Concomitant use with NSAIDs. withdraw treatment gradually. Administered only to patients with suspected or identified pheochromocytoma after appropriate risk/benefit evaluation. Contains benzyl alcohol associated with gasping syndrome in ped patients. Premature infants.
