Reduction of the risk of CHD death, major vascular &, coronary events, stroke, hospitalization for angina pectoris &, developing peripheral macrovascular complications in patients with diabetes. Reduce the need for coronary revascularization procedures, peripheral &, other non-coronary revascularization procedures &, slows progression of coronary atherosclerosis in patients who are hypercholesterolemic with CHD. Adjunct to diet in reduction of elevated total-C, LDL-C, TG &, apolipoprotein B &, to increase HDL-C in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia including heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or combined hyperlipidemia when response to diet &, other nonpharmacological measures is inadequate, therefore lowers LDL-C/HDL-C &, total-C/HDL-C ratios. Treatment of patients with hypertriglyceridemia or with primary dysbetalipoproteinemia. Adjunct to diet &, other non-dietary measures for the treatment of patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia to reduce elevated total-C, LDL-C &, apolipoprotein B. Ped patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia.
